Creative Youth Board
We’re recruiting young people from across Milton Keynes, aged between 14-21 years for our new Creative Youth Board.
What is the Creative Youth Board?
The Play’s the Thing Theatre Company’s Creative Youth Board will be an opportunity for young people to get involved in a programme of work that will include creating new performances and working with the company on developing a range of activities, events, talks, and masterclasses aimed at young people across Milton Keynes.
The Creative Youth Board will be supported and mentored by arts industry professionals through MK Theatre, MK College and The Play’s The Thing to develop and deliver these projects throughout the year.
The Creative Youth Board will provide opportunities for leadership and decision making for young people and give you a platform for your voices to be heard, your views and ideas to be shared and give you the chance to contribute to the future development of new projects and activities led by The Play’s The Thing.
Why should I get involved?
There are many reasons why this is a great opportunity – not least because it’ll look amazing on your CV! This board will be a chance for you to develop the following skills:

- public speaking (if you want)
Who are we looking for?
Any young person interested in the performing arts aged between 14-21 years. We are looking for 12 young people in total. It is not essential to have previous experience of theatre or performance.
How much do I need to commit?
If you are selected to join our Creative Youth Board, we expect you to attend a minimum of 6 meetings per year to keep your membership active. The first board meeting will be 6-8pm on Tuesday 15 February at MK Theatre.
The Creative Youth Board will also be involved in creating and supporting new performances and activities throughout the year. The first project will be to devise a short new piece of theatre (working with a Director from MK Theatre) for the Taking The Stage event held at MK Gallery on Sat 2nd April. You will need to be able to attend sessions during the day on Saturday 26th March and Sunday 27th March and in the evening of Friday 1st April to take part in this production. All rehearsal sessions will be held at MK Theatre, with the final performance in The Sky Room at MK Gallery.

Step 2 – send any supporting documents you would like to share by email to info@playsthethingtheatrecompany.co.uk by Monday 31st January, 9am. Supporting documents could include a CV, certificates, qualifications, or a supporting statement.
