Talking Heads
By Alan Bennett
A Cream Cracker Under The Settee
Seventy five year old widow, Doris, suffers a fall and in her increasingly declining condition she reminisces about the happy and sad times in her life whilst also showing a feisty stubbornness.
Her Big Chance
Aspiring actress, Lesley, prides herself on her professionalism and attention to detail. When she is offered the role of Travis in a film for the German market she thinks this could be her big break.
Don’t miss these two great monologues performed at York House.
This is a great event which also supports York House’s campaign to raise funds for “Save the Stables” – an essential building project to rescue a significant part of the 160-year-old building and bring it back into full community use.
Sue Whyte had me in tears with her performance of “A Cream cracker Under The Settee”. So moving.
Phenomenal performance by Sue Whyte in “A Cream Cracker Under The Settee”
Utterly compelling performances from both actresses this evening.
Two very contrasting monologues. Funny, poignant and just brilliant.
What a brilliant performance by Charlotte Bisker in “Her Big Chance”. Certainly an actor to watch. She will go far.
Charlotte Bisker absolutely “nailed” Lesley in “Her Big Chance”
Once again The Play’s The Thing Theatre Company brings us two brilliant evenings. So generous too that they give all the Box Office money to the fund raising effort at York House. They have raised over 3K with their performances of the six original “Talking Heads” by Alan Bennett
